In writing Our Last Dance ... A Love Story, Madeleine Zeldin sets out to honor her beloved husband, Gerald's, desire to have his story told, so that others may be helped. Zeldin shows her husband not just as a cancer patient, but as a person: an internationally renowned artist, professor, mentor and husband and father.  Professionally, Madeleine Zeldin has been engaged as a nurse and a teacher. She has successfully advocated for changes in the medical field, along with pioneering efforts in homebirth and Midwifery.  (Madeleine Zeldin)

Nowhere Is Home ... Since You Left ... Madeleine Zeldin

My purpose of writing this book is, firstly , to create a portrait of my life with my beloved late husband, Gerald, an internationally renowned artist and Philanthropist of the Human Spirit.

I highlighted his artistic genius and the joys of our soul-mate relationship, along with the intense challenges throughout our journey with cancer and the medical system. It was Gerald's wish to help others by having his story told.

I wanted to share my experiences with some of the problems and some of the solutions i found in dealing with our medical system, showing that, with advocacy and persistence, we can make a difference.

I also wanted to bring death with dying at home, 'out of the closet'... to show that it can be done, if desired, with respect and dignity.

The artwork of Gerald Zeldin is represented by Trigg Ison Fine Art . You can view a gallery of Gerry's work here.

On April 8th 2013 Madeleine will be doing a Reading from the memoir at Book Passage in Marin County, San Francisco CA. Details for the event can be found here.
